The Penguins did what they had to do last night and made the Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur look like a joke as they handed the Devils their 6th straight loss and moved into a tie with Philly for 4th place. The Penguins got on the board first with 2 quick goals in a 36 second span from Matt Cooke and Bill Guerin, I didn't get the visual aid on these but rather the call from Mike Lange on my way to watch the game with a friend whose name I'm not going to drop since he has been bugging me for 2-weeks to put his name somewhere here. Back to the game, the Devils were able to get on the board on a crap goal from Brian Gionta that should have been called back in my opinion for the simple fact to give Flower the shutout. The Penguins got on the power play towards the end of the period and Geno made them pay with wrist shot to put the Pens in a 3-1 lead going into the second period.

The 2nd period was all Penguins it got so bad that the Devils coach was thrown a penalty for abuse of the officials. The Pens were able to add 2 more goals in the period from Sidney Crosby and Jordan Staal. This would most certainly spell an early exit for any other goalie, but not Brodeur pulling him might destroy his confidence and any hopes of winning in the playoffs.

On came the third period after Chris Kunitz sealed the game and destroyed any hopes of a comeback by the Devils with the 6th goal of the evening for the Penguins, one David Clarkson decided to try and get his team going by getting whooped by old man Bill Guerin.
After this things pretty much shut down as the Pens played keep away with the puck and closed out the game and picked up the 2-points putting them in a tie for 4th with the Flyers and 6-points behind the Devils for 3rd place and first place in the Atlantic Division.
