For the second straight game in as many weeks agains the New Jersey Devils the Penguins were unable to score on Martin Brodeur running is current shutout streak on the Penguins to around 170 minutes. The Pens looked pretty solid throughout the game and it appeared as though they might get one by Marty at times but he was able make some good saves and Devils defense suffocated the Penguins for most of the rest of the game. The Penguins did get on a powerplay in the waning minutes but were still unable to pot a goal with a 2 man advantage and with the goalie pulled the Devils were able to seal the victory with an empty netter. If not for some spectacular play by Brent Johnson this game could have easily been a blowout by the Devils and it also could have gone 0-0 into overtime if not for a flukie goal in the first period.
