The Day That Was... 7-01-11

Stunned... this pretty much sums up day one of the free agency period for the Penguins organization and fellow Penguins fans. It all started with Shero pulling the Penguins offer to Jagr at around 11:30 this morning which was soon followed by Detroit doing the same. There was still some hope among the Penguins faithful that Jagr would do the right thing and pick up the phone and call Mario, then came the 1 o'clock hour and the news the rocked the Penguins fan base to the core, once beloved Penguins forward Jaromir Jagr had said @!%$ you to Mario Lemieux, the Penguins, and the Pittsburgh fans and signed a contract with the hated Flyers for $3.3 mill, which was $1.3 than the Penguins were offering which was a fair deal for a 39 y/o winger whom hasn't played in the NHL in 3-years. Jagr there were 28 other teams you could have signed with and personally it wouldn't have been that bad we all knew you were a money whore to begin with, but Philly... consider youself dead to the the Penguins fan base you are no longer welcome here. You think you were booed 10 years ago just wait until December 29th.
The dust on the Jagr situation hadn't even begun to settle yet when news broke that fan favorite Max Talbot had accepted a deal to join the Flyers as well, this was purely a business decision the Penguins weren't going to pay a guy this kind of money that hasn't shown up since 2009 so we can't really blame him, but Max consider yourself dead to the Penguins fan base. And if what you said about the Flyers being the best organization in the league is true you have obviously never met Bobby Clarke and prepare to be booed on 12/29 as well.
Mike Rupp we couldn't be more happy for you there is no way the Penguins could have offered you that kind of money, but you deserve it. It was great having you here for the last two years we wish you all the best and hope New York treats you as well as Pittsburgh has.
Tyler Kennedy we will get to you in another post... We are just too stunned right now to even get into anything else.
