Say It Isn't So - Day 1 of Free Agency 7-1-09
There were some big names that moved on day one as well as some that stayed put. The Penguins didn't make very much noise, they lost defenseman Hal Gill to the Canadiens and picked up forward Michael Rupp from the Devils. The biggest move today came out of Chicago when they signed Marian Hossa to a 12 year deal, the deal is extremely front loaded so much so that he will only make a total of 3.5 million in the final 4 years altogether.
