Pens Ground the Flyers

The Penguins went into Philthydelphia today and took care of business. They played solid through the first 2 periods of play and began to stumble in the third, but managed to hold their ground and not fall. Fleury stood tall during a barrage of shots in the closing minutes of the first, but didn't see too much action in the second as the Penguins offense lit fire. The Pens played today's game the second straight with Kris Letang a healthy scratch, now the jury is still out but I'm going to go ahead and say it Disco Dan hates Letang.

1st Period

The Penguins started this game by lighting up goaltender Martin Biron of the Flyers, Marty managed to stand tall and stop some rockets from Petr Gunn. The Flyboys managed to get on the board first after they unleashed a fury of shots on Fleury in a matter of 45 seconds, but this would be the last goal for the Flyers until much later. Godard and Cote went at in this period, it wwas a pretty weak fight Cote threw God to the ice to evade another ass whooping this year. End of 1st period 1-0 Flyers.

2nd Period

The second period started with the Crosby-Malkin line and it only took 21 seconds for them to strike when Sid drove one behind Biron. The remainder of the period belonged to the Pens with a powerplay goal from Malkin and a tally from Ruslan Fedotenko.

3rd Period

Shit hit the fan in the third period it was a see-saw battle back in fourth the Flyers managed to climb back into the game tieing things up twice. The Pens however were able to bounce back both times and take the lead again the last goal being on a monumental error when Flyers goaltender Martin Biron came out of the net past the right faceoff circle to poke check Pascal Dupuis he in turn scooped up puck and then dropped it to avoid penalty, Dupuis found Crosby hanging out in front of the empty net who redirected the pass in giving the Pens the 5-4 lead and the game winning goal.
