After a defensive stalemate that lasted for the better part of 57 minutes the Penguins were able to crack the armor of one Henrik Lundqvist to take the lead 2-1, but after Lundqvist took a stupid penalty for throwing his stick the Penguins assumed the game was over and sat down and allowed Mark Staal to get a lucky bounce and tie things up at 2 a piece with 1:26 to go in regulation. In overtime it looked like the Pens might be able to pull it off until Michalek's left foot got in his way and he tripped in the neutral zone leaving Paul Martin on the wrong end of a beautiful 2-on-1 play that ended the game. The team played great hockey for 58 minutes of the game and Fleury was lights out after allowing a goal he really had no chance of saving in the second period, however going into first gear with 2 minutes left against a team like the Rangers came back to haunt them.
