Oh Lord Stanley, Lord Stanley, Get Me the Brandy

Penguins AT Red Wings
2   1

They said it couldn't be done. No team has won Game 7 on the road in the NHL in forever in fact it has only happened something like 2 times before. Then it was brought up that the last time a road team won a championship on the road in game 7 was the 1979 Pittsburgh Pirates, and now the 2008-2009 Pittsburgh Penguins have etched their name into history as being one of the few to overcome this feat among many others this season.

Captain Sidney Crosby celebrates with the Stanley Cup

I am still in awe of all that this team has accomplished this season, the coaching change in February, the minor trades that were made at the deadline to bring in the likes of Chris Kunitz and Bill Guerin, and who can forget the acqusition of Craig Adams off of waivers from Chicago I bet they would like to have him back right now after the performance he had in these playoffs. There is also the deal that wasn't made that kept Jordan Staal here in Pittsburgh instead of trading him away for a better winger, the list goes one and on. The final blow which could have been huge for the the Red Wings was when Sid was hip checked high into the boards injuring his knee and thus keeping him from playing in pretty much the second and third periods, but the team came through and put on a show and Max Talbot showed that he really is a "Superstar".

I could go on and on about how spectacular this game was, but you should already know the highlights have been broadcasted on every major sporting outlet in North America and probably worldwide for all we know. Let us enjoy this moment and look forward to a summer filled with Stanley Cup stories.
