The Penguins are preparing for the first round of the playoffs as if they will not have the services of one Sidney Crosby.
After laying the smackdown on the Atlanta Thrashers last night the Carolina Hurricanes are in full control of their playoff destiny.
The Penguins can now do no worse than 4th in the Eastern Conference with perhaps the chance to win the division depending on the outcome of tonight's Flyers/Islanders game.
The Chicago Blackhawks have kept their playoff hopes alive last night with their win over the Red Wings.
With one game remaining on each playoff teams schedule almost everything but the seeding has been set. Each conference is still looking to secure it's 8th and final spot.
Scott Hartnell of the Philadelphia Flyers secured a playoff spot for the Buffalo Sabres last night when he made an errant pass in front of his own net.
After having a firesale in Ottawa they have decided to give GM Bryan Murray a three-year extension.
